We apologize for our delay on posting a new blog! The past few days have been very busy with various ministry opportunities. On Sunday we went two by two to different churches that Pastor Daniel has planted in various villages in the area. Aren, Chase, and myself had the privilege of sharing our testimonies along with a sermon to the congregations, while Melissa, Laura, Kara, Sara, and Becky also shared their very powerful testimonies. We shared our testimonies and sermons through a translator which was a new experience for all of us. We had to concentrate on speaking very slow and clear in order for the translator to convey the words to the congregations. The services were full of dancing, singing, praying, preaching, and more dancing. It is amazing to see how present God is in these small but passionate churches, and how people with a completely different language, on a completely different continent can worship together to the same and only true God - Jesus Christ! I believe worshiping with them gave my team and I a glimpse into what heaven will be like. That night we had the honor of talking on the local radio for a half and hour. We each spoke for about 5 minutes and talked about different aspects in Philippians 4.
The next morning we were able to rest and after the rain stopped, evangelized in the towns/villages across the street here in Takoradi. It is amazing how many people here go to church on a consistent basis. However when asked how they can get to heaven, a common response is, “If I do more good than bad, maybe I can get to heaven.” I believe one of two possibilities, these church-goers do not understand the gospel teachings in church, or they are being preached a false gospel. Galatians 1:8 says, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned.” A belief that works can get us to heaven opened up great opportunities to share the TRUE gospel of Christ. That night we were blessed to attend the Woman’s A-Glow meeting here in Takoradi. All of us shared our testimonies/sermons, and at the end joined hands with the woman to pray and sing. It was a very powerful night that touched all of us in a very deep way.
Today we went to a school Pastor Daniel’s ministry(Faith and Grace Ministries) has established and taught various subjects to kids from pre-school to 5th grade. This morning Pastor Daniel noticed our fatigue and decided to take us to the beach in the afternoon to relax and reflect on our days so far here in Ghana. Tomorrow it is back to teaching in the morning, and evangelizing in the afternoon!
Prayer requests; Pray that God will continue to keep us healthy. So far Melissa has been the only one to get sick but has recovered well! Also pray that we will have energy to continue to do God’s work, as the humidity and heat can drain us out pretty quickly. Lastly, please pray for us men here as we have all been getting harshly attacked by the enemy in our dreams. But praise God that we are stirring up the enemy because it shows that God is using us to impact His kingdom!
Thank you so much for your prayers! We will do our best to post another blog tomorrow evening!
To Him be the glory!
